AmeriCorps Team Leader & VISTA National Service Positions (full-time only)

Heart of Oregon Corps full-time positions areĀ AmeriCorps service positions. Members serve an 11-month term (46 weeks), 1700-hour, full-time (40 hours/week, Mon-Friday). These AmeriCorps positions receive a biweekly living stipend, healthcare benefits, professional certifications, on-the-job training, and an education award upon program completion. This is a great opportunity for a young professional looking for a work-related learning experience, in this field of study or career interest.

  • This position is responsible for developing and strengthening community partnerships for our YouthBuild program, including identifying partnerships for potential service projects and service learning initiatives. This member will also provide service implementing our volunteer program, enabling the program to better serve low-income young people and community residents.   • This position is responsible for helping to build and guide a team of youth capable of safely building and refurbishing YouthBuild AmeriCorps houses designated for low-income individuals. This position will assist by providing information and resources on best practices and/or by helping to develop the construction portion of the YouthBuild program.   • Education Leader AmeriCorps members are responsible for assisting program teachers and staff in improving the mathematical, science, social science, and language arts skills of program participants as these participants study to achieve a GED/HSD, assisting participants with job readiness and job placement services, and providing support to participants around college readiness. The Education Team Leader is not a staff role, and thus does not provide supervision to YouthBuild AmeriCorps members, Instead, the Team Leader provides an additional layer of leadership and support. Additionally, they assist by providing information and resources on best practices and/or by helping to develop the education portion of the YouthBuild program.   • Heart of Oregon Corps is seeking an enthusiastic and self-motivated VISTA member to join our team in beautiful Bend, Oregon. The VISTA member will build capacity in Heart of Oregon Corpsā€™ recruitment activities through marketing activities, implementing systems and processes, and guiding events and outreach to drive alumni engagement.   • This position is ideal for people with previous conservation corps experience or those with natural resources, outdoor leadership, and or environmental education backgrounds/degrees. The Land Stewardship Trainer position will provide training and support alongside AmeriCorps Service Members while also completing environmental stewardship service. This includes: developing and implementing in-field training opportunities, environmental education, field logistics support, and project partner satisfaction tracking. This position will have a special emphasis in natural resources career development, helping Members learn and practice technical field skills, encouraging a safe service environment, and providing positive mentorship. Potential professional development and training opportunities including: career planning, public land stewardship, & youth development. Possible certifications may include but are not limited to: CPR & First Aid, Chainsaw S212, Crosscut Saw, Oregon Directly Supervised Herbicide Applicator, and/or Wilderness First Aid.
